A God of their own design!
John 3:3636 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life;(B) whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him.
We see in this scripture, that God is clarifying a very simple truth, we must not only BELIEVE but OBEY. Belief in a passive sense is not enough, if you believed that a car was going to run you over you would jump back up on the sidewalk. Belief and obedience are unilaterally linked, what you believe, you receive and what you perceive is linked to what is achieved. People may argue OK I want to believe in this or that but if you believe in a lie it is not going to save you no matter how strong your belief.
Living in a persistent ongoing sin is vile to the Lord, not because He is unforgiving but because His grace is not meant to cover that. Once you are convicted in your heart it should be surrendered to the Lord for repair. Many people these days defend their sins claiming, "they are human", "cant be expected to", "God understands"," it's different these days";...His word says, No!, it's really not...Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and eternity!~ Hebrews 13:8
God knows the difference between weakness & willfulness, just like a parent knows the difference between a child that is struggling to overcome something or one that is capable but just chooses not to. God knows, because He is the reader of hearts; He can see your challenges, shortcomings, tolerances, tendencies and abilities. He takes all things into account, beyond that, He can never fail. This directive is placed in His Holy Word to guide us, to assure us that we have a duty, a responsibility. It's a grave mistake to assume that just because Jesus died for our sins past, present and future, that willfully planned out sins are covered. That is twisted & not correct, yet some carry on in just this manner! It's a lie, a trap by the devil; he loves to twist things knowing that the sinner will pay the ultimate price!
Die to your sins! Gods word says, it would be better for you to loose an eye if it is what causes you sin. Basically speaking, whatever it is in your life that has control over you, that doesn't line up with God is NOT worth risking eternity over! Anything that isn't pleasing to God like a willful unrepentant sin is not something that we should seek to defend. LET IT GO, MAKE IT GO, keep it so!
Heavenly Father, send your Holy Spirit as a helper to identify those areas where willfulness can be corrected, allow your Holy Word to go deeper to the hearts of men, let them see where they are choosing and serving Gods of their own design. Revive the spirit of Godliness throughout this land, let us remain and hold fast to solid biblical principals for the sake of our children, relationships and livelihoods. Lets shake off the filth and lucre this world tries to fling at us as if it is normal or popular. The selfish, the proud, the haughty, the vain, the wicked, the deceitful, the troubled ones: Lord, we lift them up this day and we also bind and rebuke the source of their inspiration. Cut them off from their search and their gain; render them in a spot of vulnerability with only one clear remedy in sight, You our Savior and King, redeemer and Most High God! in the Mighty name of Yehushua our Lord, we pray...AMEN!
