Closer than close 3-7-16

Ever have that friend or partner where you shared inside jokes, could finish each others sentences, read their mind and know PRECISELY what they were thinking just with a look? In fact, the two of you had your own secret language and it delighted you both, to interact this way as doing so just built the bond of trust and friendship all the more!

I have been very fortunate in my life to have had this many times. I have a handful of very close wonderful friends. I had such a close bond with my Mother too.

Jesus wants to have this close of an intimate relationship with us too! In fact, it is more for our benefit. He loves us so much, He desires to build that special language, so that in times of need or hardship we can find our way to His words with ease and simplicity.

When times are great, He wants to be turned to like you would to a dear old friend whom you'd hug around the neck and cross miles to celebrate with!

So, if you do not have this type of closeness with God and our Lord, you might ask, "how do I?"..."how does one get that?"

For starters, you must desire it. From there, it is helpful to pray to the Lord and ask Him specifically to help you cultivate this close relationship with Him! From there it is a good practice to set aside time to read His word to us, (The Bible) daily! Throughout the day, speak to God, in your mind, with your mouth, write to Him, however you communicate best. God is very cooperative and understanding toward our limited thinking and denseness toward His clues. If He outright just spoke to you, audibly, it might shock you. He wouldn't want to do that. So, instead, He finds countless ways to place things in your path to confirm to you that He hears you. To show you by example that answer that you are seeking. He always always answers, except sometimes we are too bent on our desire to accept His solution!

If you have a question about whether or not you should do something, ask God to show you the answer. If necessary, develop and stipulate what your Yes (looks like, sounds like, smells like, feels like) and also do the same thing for what your "NO" answer would be like. This way, when He sends you those answers, you will know that He heard and that He answered. Always apply common sense. Don't get too caught up in some metaphysical sign but do begin to create a mental and spiritual dialogue with Him that is personal to you and how God can effectively use your presets to communicate through.

John 15:13

13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Prov 8:17 “I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.”

Zeph 3:17 The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

1 John 4:19 “We love Him because He first loved us.”

Acts 4:12 “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

John 1:12-13 “Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God
