Eradicate Hate 6/22/15

In general, we all use the word hate so casually. It's even used as a term of dislike when speaking about the very subject of Hate. It's the word of choice for severe dislike, its even used to describe mild annoyance. It's so widely accepted but it has deeper implications, and seeks to take root in our hearts like a rogue emotion capable of great harm.

Hate has many ugly cousins, such as bigotry, indifference, insecurity, jealousy, narcissism, rage, racism. When one comes to town, they all like to get together and stir up trouble! It needs to stop. Everyone believes this is true, everyone says so, but are we ourselves guilty of the very thing that we loathe?! We need greater accountability within. We ought to be praying for our enemies and I mean really praying that they receive forgiveness, self awareness and Christ awareness. Imagine for a moment being like them, not a pleasant thought, huh?. Well, at least you can sleep at night. People who are mean and ugly have to live with themselves as well as one day face the mirror and ultimately answer to God.

Forgiveness and tolerance! It's a bitter pill. I know because I have overcome through Christ. I have had innumerable instances of it in my life. Hurt, betrayal, malice and every variation has tried to come at me. It takes work, patience and a willingness to let go. I have learned that anyone who would go to great lengths to hurt me, is truly pathetic. I have learned to see just beyond, the in your face insult, the behind your back disloyalty, the right in front of the face oversight. Somewhere along the way, I recognized that I held the power. That they pulled me into a current of ugly and I could either swim back to shore or stay there to scrap it out. The smart choice is to remove ourselves and turn it over to the Lord. After all, He knows best how to handle them and always does, somehow, someway, one day!

Retaliation is always like oxygen applied to a fire. Keep your lashes and eye brows in tact, step back and diffuse. We need to refuse those who attempt to insight us. They want a fight, they want an excuse and a reason to engage, they want a piece. We look into the eyes of someone like this youth, that committed this horrible act towards our family in Christ (in S. Carolina) and we see vacancy, we see a consciousness void of understanding, there is a depth of ignorance in his very soul. He is a casualty of his own. The world has many more, just like him. Our only defense is LOVE & the Power of Christ through prayer!
