It’s usually not until a child is much older, until they have been disappointed, let down or neglected that they become distrustful of adults. It seems almost intrinsic to little ones to trust Mom and Dad. All of their basic needs are met and the comfort of that loving devotion creates a blanket of surrender that they easily give over to.
2 Timothy 1:7
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
Trust and freedom go hand in hand, there is no room for fear.
Psalm 56:11
“In God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid . . . “
1 John 4:18
“There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.”
Romans 8:15
“For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.”
Hebrews 2:15
“And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.”
Proverbs 3:5
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding“
We are at place in time where it is critical to trust the Lord, as little children. Things can get complicated and confounded quickly. Little children aren’t expected to understand the nuances of evil wickedness and manipulations that surely accompany that agenda. God wants us in place of total reliance upon Him, so that He can usher us here and there, just as a non-suspecting child would follow the simple instructions of a parent. God might need to lead you out of danger unbeknownst to you, this requires obedience to His promptings.
How can you become more attuned to His promptings? You can develop a baseline with the Lord. He is not to0 High and Mighty to not accommodate your request for clearer instruction. You can create a dialogue of signals and simple occurrences that will be helpful in discerning what way to go and what actions to take. Write them down, so you don’t forget. Pray to God and ask Him to please begin to communicate with you in some simple but precise ways.
example:
Yes = (assign whatever signal or occurrence you feel will be undeniable yet highly probable of happening) ex. a red light turning green, a person nodding their head, a horn beep, a sneeze,
No = (get creative, try to find examples that could occur no matter where you are or who you are with.) ex: the cashier asking for coupons, a big red circle on a sign, an abrupt noise over the phone
Leave now = (hearing the word “bye”, noticing a door left ajar, a flickering light, a high pitched ring in your ear)
Stay put = (cramp in your foot, a piece of paper on the floor, something obstructing the doorway)
Go read the Bible = ( noticing a stack of books, seeing a bookmark, a single apple sitting on a ledge, a child’s book, a book symbol on a t-shirt)
Take no action = ( a large red x, a circle with a line through it, a cork, a bird just gliding through the air – not struggling or flying )
Wait for more info = ( noticing a question mark alone or oversized, a half-completed sentence, a letter torn in half – missing part, a puzzle piece)
NOTE: ONCE YOU FEEL YOU HAVE A GOOD HANDLE ON THIS AND HAVE OBSERVED SOME OCCURRENCES OF SIGNALS, YOU WIL BECOME MORE AND MORE SURE THAT HE IS GIVING YOU THE FEEDBACK THAT YOU HAVE ASKED FOR. THERE IS NO LIMIT, YOU CAN KEEP THIS GOING AND ADD AS MANY PROMPTS AS YOU THINK YOU MIGHT NEED TO NAVIGATE IN AND AROUND DAILY STUFF. HAVE FUN AND DONT FORGET TO BE THANKFUL FOR HIS ANSWERINGS WHEN THEY ARRIVE.
If we could just learn to recognize when He is speaking with us. We actually can, He wants us to, and through His word, we will develop an even keener sense of awareness. This will lead us into blessings faster and away from disasters.
I can only emphasize that I had this very experience myself, when having to travel recently. I calmed my nerves about something that was projected onto me by reminding myself that God and the Holy spirit will find a way to redirect me, slow me down or delay me (somehow, someway) away from any grave danger. Well, that is exactly what happened. I was involved in an incident and kept waiting for close to two hours. I know that the hand of God was upon the situation because of the thoughts I had prior and the trust I assigned to my savior prior to.
Have a blessed week and enjoy the peace of mind in knowing God can and will communicate to you, with you and through ordinary events.
