A baby comes out of the womb, born into the culture & language of its origin but it certainly doesn’t fully understand what’s being said to it, right from birth. Likewise, we, as infants in God’s kingdom, need to learn how to identify His voice & discern His words. It requires practice, time & attention. God is constantly pouring out His attention on us, it is us who become frustrated, miss His signals & otherwise avoid this interactive communication that is ALWAYS available to us.
Isaiah 30:21
And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk you in it, when you turn to the right hand, and when you turn to the left.
So, how is God communicating with you when you are not able yet to hear Him? Just like a parent, sometimes He will remove something from your path that would be an obstruction or a hindrance. Sometimes, He removes it because it is clear that the maturity required is not present. God speaks to us through repetition, the same theme keeps occurring, or a certain word we will see again & again. In scripture we might stumble upon something that seems “spot on” with current things in your life, this is God’s living word reaching out to you. Occasionally, an inner prompting will emerge or an inner conviction. He can speak to us through dreams, as well as through daily life, happenstance, divinely aligned events and everyday challenges or life lessons. Sometimes, we may actually even hear an audible voice, pay attention however to what is said & how it comes across. God’s voice is always direct, concise, authoritative without belittling. Very much the way a loving parent would direct and correct, is the Voice of our Heavenly Father.
Abba Father, teach us and instruct us in Your way, be that constant voice that gently guides us. Find numerous ways to get our attention until we can discern your voice so clearly that you could tell us a word for another, that we could repeat it with full confidence, knowing it is direct from You. Let this same knowing be an ever present guide to direct our paths. Let every situation present itself as an opportunity to communicate with you. Please tell us and remind us how much You Love Us! We need this encouragement and can learn your voice by the words of Love that You speak to our hearts! In the Mighty name of Jesus, we pray AMEN!
1 Samuel 15:22
22 And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.

Isa 55:1-11 (NIV) "Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. Why spend money on what is not bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest of fare. Give ear and come to me; hear me, that your soul may live..." Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon... "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplishwhat I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it."
Romans 12:2
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
James 1:22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.
