2,000 + years ago, Jesus challenged the Status Quo, the Scribes, Pharisees and Sanhedrin were shaken, unaffected by the Divinity that stood before them but threatened by His very existence. They devised all sorts of schemes to shut Him up, to drive Him out, to discredit His works & words. In fact, as Passover approached, they effectually were responsible for laying hands on the most perfect spotless lamb ever offered, the human life of Gods Eternal Son.
At their very hands,
the perfect Lamb of God was slain. Did this Propitiation cover them, certainly not! You see, their traditions were meant to be a sign of things to come, the offering of blood, of a spotless animal, at the passover, was a picture and prophecy of Jesus Himself! He Himself was the fulfillment of that long held tradition.
Interestingly, in order to keep the masses in check, as the Romans threatened to shut down the Temple, which would have been the result, if they couldn't
accuse, convict and destroy Jesus before the passover celebration. They devised a charge to place upon Him. They accused Him of
Blasphemy. Which, if it were true, would be the most arrogant of postures and a severe front to the sensibilities of such educated and holy men. In fact, Jesus, in His perfect Sinless nature, as man as well as God, could not, would not, was incapable of, lying. When asked directly, if He was in fact the Messiah, He said, "I AM"! They convicted Him, assuming that he was mad, a liar, and proposed that He was deceitful. To make matters worse, they scoffed and accused Him of employing demons to perform miracles. How blind they were and how wrong?!
Interestingly, the sin of Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is the only sin under which forgiveness may not be obtained.
Mark 3:29 We may be forgiven of any other sin, but anyone who should believe or accuse God or Jesus as being evil is guilty of this blasphemy. In their charging Jesus of blasphemy, they themselves committed the ultimate blasphemy. We are swiftly approaching the time, when up is confused with down, right with wrong and good with evil.
In our Society, the lines are being blurred. Those that hold fast to God's truths are being accused of discrimination versus discernment, controlling versus prudent, rigid versus unwaivering. You have to make a choice, to follow, believe and be obedient or fall away, float off with the strongest wind, conform to iniquity. There is a figure of speach, "Get Right or get left" and that's what it really comes down to. If you stand for everything you stand for nothing! Choose this day whom you will serve.
You are the light, that should not be put under a bushel. You are the salt that shouldn't loose it savour. You are the stone that shouldn't be kicked against. You are the graphed in prodigal, for whom the celebration was given. The prized posession of the Father & the Son, for which a ransom was made!
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Matthew 5:13
Ye are the salt of the
earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be
salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to
be trodden under foot of men.
Luke 15:11-32 (KJV)
11 And he said, A certain man had two sons:
12 And
the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of
goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living.
13 And
not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his
journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous
living.
14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him.
17 And
when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my
father's have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger!
18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,
19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants.
20 And
he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off,
his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck,
and kissed him.
21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
22 But
the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it
on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:
24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry.
25 Now his elder son was in the field: and as he came and drew nigh to the house, he heard musick and dancing.
26 And he called one of the servants, and asked what these things meant.
27 And
he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the
fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound.
28 And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him.
29 And
he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee,
neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never
gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends:
30 But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
31 And he said unto him, Son, thou art ever with me, and all that I have is thine.
32 It
was meet that we should make merry, and be glad: for this thy brother
was dead, and is alive again; and was lost, and is found.
Romans 11:11-31
11 I
say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but
rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to
provoke them to jealousy.
12 Now
if the fall of them be the riches of the world, and the diminishing of
them the riches of the Gentiles; how much more their fulness?
13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
14 If by any means I may provoke to emulation them which are my flesh, and might save some of them.
15 For if the casting away of them be the reconciling of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?
16 For if the firstfruit be holy, the lump is also holy: and if the root be holy, so are the branches.
17 And
if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive
tree, wert grafted in among them, and with them partakest of the root
and fatness of the olive tree;
18 Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee.
19 Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be grafted in.
20 Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:
21 For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee.
22 Behold
therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell,
severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness:
otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.
23 And they also, if they abide not still in unbelief, shall be grafted in: for God is able to graft them in again.
24 For
if thou wert cut out of the olive tree which is wild by nature, and
wert grafted contrary to nature into a good olive tree: how much more
shall these, which be the natural branches, be grafted into their own
olive tree?
25 For
I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest
ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is
happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
26 And
so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of
Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins.
28 As
concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes: but as touching
the election, they are beloved for the father's sakes.
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
30 For as ye in times past have not believed God, yet have now obtained mercy through their unbelief:
31 Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy.
Mark 3:29
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation:
Psalm 118:22
The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.
John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
